Shopping in and around Anahim Lake
Because we are very remote, few grocery stores, shops and restaurants are nearby. Our resort is outside the small center of Anahim Lake, about a 15-minute drive / 14 km by car. So, we would like to suggest that our guests shop on the way to us.

Getting to the Red Cariboo Resort from Williams Lake
Ideally, if you are staying longer, you should go shopping in Williams Lake. This typical North American town at the intersection of Highways 20 and 97 has several supermarkets and offers various shopping options for every taste. The distance to the resort is 340 km, about a 3.5-hour drive on Highway 20.
If you have previously stayed in another accommodation in the Cariboo or Chilcotin with meals and then come to us via Highway 20 from Williams Lake, you can also do some shopping on the way to us. A few small shops offer all the basics, from groceries to clothing. The prices are probably higher due to the necessary transport, the products are not as fresh, and the selection is not as extensive, but in general, you can get almost everything your heart desires in and around Anahim Lake. General stores are open until 8 p.m. in winter and until 9 p.m. in summer. Please keep this in mind if you are out late.

In Nimpo Lake, about 31 km before the resort from the direction of Williams Lake, there is the Nimpo Lake General Store, a small grocery store with a gas station. The address is Highway 20, Nimpo Lake, BC, and the Telephone number is +1 (250) 742 3333. From here, it is about 30 minutes to the Red Cariboo Resort.

Just before Anahim Lake on Highway 20, the Ulkatcho First Nation Canco Gas Station opened in 2023. It even has an electric car charging station. The store offers an excellent selection of everyday items and groceries, especially refrigerated and frozen goods. It also offers snacks such as sandwiches and a coffee bar. One kilometre further on, you come to "Anahim Lake downtown", which consists of two shops. Here, you will find the Mclean Trading Store, a small general store that advertises itself with the slogan: "If we don't have it, you don't need it." Opposite is Donna's Restaurant, which is currently the only restaurant in the area. Address: 6639 Christensen Rd, Anahim Lake, BC V0L 1C0, Telephone +1 (250) 742-3533. However, checking the current opening times on Facebook or by phone beforehand is advisable, as they always vary greatly.

In season, Tolamy Acres, a privately run greenhouse in Anahim Lake, offers fresh local produce. Address: Airport Road, Anahim Lake. Current offers and opening times are regularly posted on Facebook.

Getting to Red Cariboo Resort from Bella Coola
If you are arriving by ferry from Port Hardy via Bella Coola, you can also shop or dine before your trip to Red Cariboo Resort. From cozy cafes serving fresh baked goods to restaurants showcasing Pacific Northwest cuisine, visitors can enjoy a variety of delicious dishes while taking in the valley's stunning natural beauty.

The Bella Coola Valley Co-Op is a community-owned cooperative providing residents and visitors with fresh, locally produced products. The store offers a variety of goods, including groceries, fruits and vegetables, meat and dairy, and services such as a gas station, liquor store, and hardware store. If you continue on Highway 20 towards Anahim Lake, you will pass through Hagensborg. Here you will find the Shop Easy Hagensborg Mercantile, a regular-sized supermarket in the Bella Coola Valley that offers a variety of goods for everyday needs.
