Cross-Country Skiing in the Winter Sun
Guests staying with us at Red Cariboo Resort in winter are in for a special treat: Just a short drive east on Highway 20, the stunning cross-country ski trails of the Tweedsmuir Ski Club are nearby – a true winter paradise for anyone who loves nature, tranquility, and exercise.
20 Kilometers of Immaculately Maintained Trails – Thanks to Dedicated Volunteers
The roughly 20 km of trails are lovingly and regularly groomed by volunteers. This guarantees a well-maintained route suitable for both beginners and seasoned cross-country skiers. The trails wind through sunlit snowscapes, peaceful forests, and expansive plains – a perfect escape from the everyday.
Our colleague Nadja, a new member of the Tweedsmuir Ski Club, now visits the area several times a month. Last weekend in mid-November, she captured some impressions under bright sunshine – you can find her videos below. They showcase the beauty of the trails better than words ever could.
Affordable, simple, and close to nature
Using the cross-country skiing area is very affordable – a fantastic way to actively explore the region. Especially convenient:
• Parking is available right at the trailhead.
• The new Day Use XC Warming Cabin provides a cozy spot for all cross-country skiers to warm up.
• The area is free of snowmobiles, so you can fully enjoy the peace and quiet of nature.
For those looking for a bit of variety, there's also a small hill with a ski lift for a short downhill run, as well as separate snowmobile routes in the Rainbow Range Mountains (outside the cross-country skiing area).
Available equipment – or just bring your own.
If our guests don't bring their own cross-country skiing gear, they can rent it directly from us at the Red Cariboo Resort. Of course, we also welcome guests who bring their own equipment.
Whether you're seeking a relaxing glide through the winter scenery or a vigorous workout, the Tweedsmuir Ski Club Cross Country Trails are a true treasure that will make your stay at Red Cariboo Resort even more memorable.
We look forward to seeing you on the trails this winter!
