The Red Cariboo Resort is correct at the heart of British Columbia, in the West Chilcotin district. It belongs to the community of Anahim Lake, which extends with only a few inhabitants per 6,52 square kilometres. So if civilization has become a bit too cramped, you will find a natural paradise, in whose solitude you can rediscover yourself and the wonderful nature.
Highway 20, also known as the "Chilcotin-Bella Coola Highway," runs 457 km from Williams Lake westward to Bella Coola, located at the North Bentinck Arm, an inlet from the Pacific Ocean. Shortly after Anahim Lake, the highway turns into a gravel road for the next 57 km, called "The Hill."
Half of the inhabitants of the entire region are descendants of the original inhabitants of the "Ulkatcho First Nation," an indigenous community belonging to the "Dakelh." At the same time, the indigenous community of the adjacent "Tsilhqot'in" also lives here.
Red Cariboo Resort has two different locations:
The entrance to the Red Cariboo Resort, which is our main property, is located at 23302 Hwy 20, Anahim Lake. It contains an area of 60 hectares. You can find the cabins on this property, just like the main house and the stables. The resort directly connects to the banks of the Dean River over a length of 800 meters. The distance from the cabins to the river is about 300 meters. The distance to Anahim Lake-town is about a 3000 meters walk.

The Red Cariboo Apartments - you find our fully equipped apartments here - are located at 3032 Elsey Road, Anahim Lake, directly at the Anahim Lake. One can find a big platform with a gazebo and a propane fire pit, a separate covered picnic table, and a BBQ, all with a lake view directly at the waterfront. There is a canoe house located at the apartments to make it easy for the guests to use their rented canoe or kayak.

How to get here
Anahim Lake is located at British Columbias Hwy 20, which leads you out west from Williams Lake to Bella Coola. The distance to Williams Lake, almost 340 kilometers, is more than twice as long as the way to Bella Coola which is about 135 kilometers away.
The regional airport of Anahim Lake is located at Hwy 20. From there you can fly directly to Vancouver and Williams Lake. The airport is used for charter and private planes.

Flights from Vancouver (YVR) to Anahim Lake (YAA) are offered every day during summer by Pacific Coastal Airlines. Three direct flights a week are offered during winter.

Rental car:
If you want to drive the 1100 km distance from Vancouver to the Red Cariboo Resort, which is a beautiful journey and can be made in one day if you drive all day long, you can rent a car with unlimited mileage at most car rental companies.
If you book a flight from Vancouver to Williams Lake you can also rent a car and drive the remaining 340 km. However, usually, a limit of 100 km per day is common.
